Culture & Cocktails showcases the various cultures of Africa & its Diaspora through music, dance, storytelling and fashion in a fun and engaging atmosphere. At each event, there are performances from artists hailing from different parts of the Diaspora. The purpose of this program is to educate attendees on the vast differences, as well as celebrate the similarities between peoples of the continent.
Held at Rendez Vous Lounge in Adams Morgan, our first Culture & Cocktails of 2010 was a huge success with a standing-room only crowd. Our featured artists included Ayanna Gregory and Ernesto Lara who got the crowd on their feet with powerful vocals, and the throbbing drum beats of the jembe drum infused with the rhythmic lyrics of hip hop.
