Spirit of the DiasporaSpirit of the Diaspora Extravaganza

On Thursday, March 29, 2012, African Diaspora for Change kicked-off the event/fundraiser of the year: the Spirit of the Diaspora Extravaganza. Building on the UN’s declaration of 2011 as the International Year for People of African Descent, African Diaspora for Change has declared 2012 as “the Year of African Ascent." This semi-formal affair featured some of the leading artists from the African Diaspora representing Brazil, Nigeria, the U.S., Uganda and more!

Diaspora Dialogues
The purpose of this program is to provide a moderated forum for discussing issues in the Black Diaspora and addressing many of the misconceptions we have about one another. As one of our featured “Dialogue” events, we are partnering with Kobina Aidoo, producer of The Neo African-Americans to bring the film to universities and communities. The film explores how rapid, voluntary immigration from Africa and the Caribbean to America is transforming the African American narrative.
